With only 45 APN Ambassadors across EMEA and 240 worldwide, this rare achievement underlines John’s commitment and our position at the forefront of AWS expertise and best practice.
What is an APN Ambassador?
The APN Ambassador Program is a community of technical experts in the AWS Partner Network (APN) Consulting Partner community. A combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practitioner experience sets APN Ambassadors apart as technical authorities on AWS. APN Ambassadors are passionate about sharing their AWS technical expertise through public presentations, open source projects, and social media. APN Ambassadors possess multiple AWS certifications as well as in-depth AWS knowledge. As APN Consulting Partner representatives, they work closely with AWS Solution Architects to migrate, design, implement, and monitor AWS workloads and ensure their own organisation keeps pace with AWS’ rapidly evolving capabilities. To achieve and maintain Ambassador status they also need to contribute to the wider AWS community. This includes publishing thought leadership materials, best practice guidance and detailed technical write-ups.

John’s APN Ambassador journey
As well as focusing on his own professional development and that of the CirrusHQ Architect Team, John contributes to the advancement of the AWS community. For instance, he’s taken part in webinars discussing essential characteristics of successful cloud computing and cloud migration best practice. John also contributes to the AWS community through producing thought leadership and best practice presentations and articles and technical case studies via CirrusHQ and his own blogging website. John’s career began as a Perl and then Python Developer before moving through to Customer Service as Team Lead and Customer Success Manager. Later as a Senior Developer and AWS Architect John has since spent many years at CirrusHQ overseeing the delivery of infrastructure build and Well-Architected Reviews. John holds multiple AWS certifications including Solutions Architect Professional & Associate, and Certified Developer Associate.
Now that John has achieved Ambassador status, he will actively be involved in the global APN Ambassador community. He will continue to design and deliver customer infrastructure and Well-Architected Reviews as an AWS Partner, providing tangible benefits to our team and our customers. He’ll also build on his role as an expert contributor to the AWS community at large and is soon to present at the next AWS User Group UK meetup.
