CirrusHQ, a leading AWS Advanced Consulting Partner in the UK, recently achieved the AWS DevOps Competency.  Making CirrusHQ the first UK headquartered AWS Cloud Specialist to achieve both AWS Education and DevOps competencies.

One of the projects focused on during the audit was the STV Player and the work CirrusHQ achieved in collaboration with STV to ensure critical upgrades and a step-change in the build, deployments and testing of a flagship production application.

Andrew Smillie, Engineering Lead at STV Group, highlighted “CirrusHQ assisted us in upgrading the version of Amazon Linux we use to power our ECS instances, hosting services critical to running STV Player. They helped us understand the changes and the associated risks, to perform the upgrade in a way that brought no disruption to our users, and minimal changes for our engineering team.”

The DevOps Competency from AWS is a purposely set high bar of accreditation to ensure Partners demonstrate a wealth of deep subject matter knowledge against a number of successful customer projects.

STV is Scotland’s home of news and entertainment, serving audiences with quality content on air, online and on demand. The STV Player allows consumers in STV’s broadcast licence areas to enjoy their favourite STV shows live or on demand. With over three million registered users, the STV Player is one of the fastest growing on-demand platforms in the UK.

James Lucas, CEO and Founder of CirrusHQ, added “Our ongoing partnership with STV has enabled us to leverage core DevOps principles to both ensure core services are updated efficiently and aid in realising business benefit and continuity to customers. We believe the DevOps Competency demonstrates our ongoing passion and obsession to deliver amazing and critical AWS cloud solutions and services for its customers.”
